Financial Coaches Financial Coaching is a relatively new profession. Because of its origins coaching is sometimes confused with other forms of service. Make Your Money Count provides professional coaches with a powerful tool to help clients connect their resources to what matters most. Jim Munchbach wrote Make Your Money Count because he believes good money management is a discipline that builds financial, emotional, as well as spiritual muscle and is a crucial element of balanced living. Make Your Money Count is designed to be used by Financial Coaches who want to help people become better managers of their resources. Financial Coaching is not therapy, treatment, counseling, or consulting. Financial Coaching is not the same as financial planning. Financial Coaches don't hold themselves out as financial advisors or even financial professionals. Financial Coaches are coaching professionals who help people take steps to achieve their life goals. Financial Coaching is a way to help people effectively and efficienlty manage their resources, coaches help people set goals and then take the needed steps to reach those goals. Financial Coaching is goal oriented and can focus on virtually any area of life planning which almost always involves some level of financial planning. Financial Coaches are trained to work with Financial Professionals in order to help clients implement their financial plan. Financial Professionals include registered representatives, insurance agents, Tax Accountants, and other Financial Specialists. While most coaching occurs face-to-face, financial coaching can also be successfully accomplished through telephone and e-mail contact. Financial Coaching can be short-term, where the coach helps a client clarify their life’s purpose or vision, put handles on a specific financial goal, or prepare for a particular life event – like retirement, college funding, or career transitions . Financial Coaching can also be long-term, where the client wants coaching for a number of life planning issues and goals. To help people attain the results they want in life, Financial Coaches use a variety of tools. They ask powerful questions, teach, explore alternatives, inspire, act as a sounding board, build confidence and capability, facilitate learning, and attentively listen to what matters most for their clients. Most importantly, Financial Coaches help clients design their own Blueprint for Financial Success. The Blueprint provides structure to the process and keeps the next step in focus so that the client continues to move toward her financial goals. Financial Coaches help clients take specific steps toward achieving their dreams. A Financial Coach builds a purpose-centered alliance with their client. The coaching partnership often produces more success and satisfaction than the client might be able to achieve without the help of a Financial Coach. Virtually anyone can benefit from Financial Coaching. To determine whether Financial Coaching might be of value for you or for your coaching clients, consider the following questions:
